"Run under the Site Managers Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS), the men received the Construction Site Managers Certificate from Construction Manager at Kennedy Construction, David Lawson and he underlined the company’s commitment to training when he said:

”It is vital that our staff working on building sites have the proper training qualifications in order to ensure safety at all times on these sites and earlier this year we embarked on a training programme that now covers 100% of our site staff.”

The key objective at Kennedy Construction is for all construction staff and operatives to have the appropriate Construction Skills Certificate Scheme and Construction Plant Competence Scheme cards plus dumper, roller and abrasive wheels competence.

And earlier this year Kennedy Construction embarked on an ambitious and thorough training schedule designed to achieve that goal by next March provided by HSEF.

In addition to the Construction Site Managers Certificate all site managers and supervisors are undergoing extensive four day HSE First Aid certificate courses again designed to maximise safety on all sites.

Kennedy Construction have sites all over Scotland and the north of England and in 2006 that will expand to other areas of Britain and Ireland.

It is company practice that all of these sites are run to the highest of standards and by ensuring all our men have the necessary qualifications goes a long way to achieving that.”

The Kennedy managers and supervisors have spent many weekends on the training, safety and first aid courses under the expert tutelage of health and safety advisers Brian and Gary Malone.

Brian and Gary have been a huge help to us in our quest to train our men properly and I’d like to thank them for all their work.”
